Why so busy?
Hmmm. I am pretty sure that no one even noticed that I have not been updating my blog for quite some time as I know myself that I have a very low readership but then I guess that this doesn't stop me from explaining why I have not been updating my blog as much as I hoped for.
Well, I am still alive everyone. This post is just to explain a little bit about why I can't be updating my blog as often as I used to.
It all started about a few weeks ago. Something has happened at work which I do not want to disclose too much here in my blog. Let's just say that there have been some major reshuffling in my office and starting 1 October, I am unofficially not working for the company I am working with anymore. It will be official starting 1 December. The GM of my previous company has resigned and bought over my whole department to set up a new company. Basically, it doesn't affect me too much aside from my third increment this year, under new management and working in a new company. Heck, I even still work in the same office and sitting on the same table. Soon, they will put renovate the office to separate both offices.
I will be doing the same thing of programming in .NET with a very high possibility of doing extra in HighJump Software which is not very widely used in Malaysia but has been quite widely used and in high demand in other countries (I've only been told). So, it has been said many times by my GM turned boss that those involved in HighJump will be sent overseas as we already have projects locally and overseas. That doesn't concern me yet as I am still handling some new .NET project and I am not in the HighJump team yet. I am not even sure what I will do if I am in the HighJump team. I do not know whether I will like it or not. I will just disclose this much. There are a lot more but I would rather keep those to myself.
Okay, moving on to the reason as to why I am so busy that I can't update my blog. You see, with all these major changes, a few of the senior staffs deemed redundant has been axed. So, with lesser people comes more works for those remaining. This is reason one why I am so busy nowadays.
The second reason is this. Since some of the senior staffs has been axed, I have been handed one new project that I do not know who is handling as the Boss say that I am to handle it but the .NET team assistant manager say that I am to support. I am just so confused now.
What's worse is that half of my .NET development team ppl has rejected the offer by the company to absorb them into the new company and thus, they will be working until mid to end of November. What's worse is that 2 of them are in the 3 member team of my new project. So now, aside from supporting my existing customer, I have to work on this new project.
Okay, more on this new project, I do not know due to what reason, the assistant manager wanted this new project to be completed at the end of this month although the customer's deadline is before December and if we are lucky, they can accept our request of completion before January next year. So, why do we need to complete it so early?
The development started just less than 2 weeks ago. Deducting all the non-working days, we only have 15 days. 15 days to complete a project? I tell you, it's not a very large project but it's not a small one either. Worse still is that the reason my assistant manager wanted the completion to be completed so early is that we are a 3-member team but I tell you, 1 of the member have not touched .NET before and another 1 of them is busy supporting a few customers himself (he will not be in the office for some days). So, can you imagine my workload? 15 days with such a team?
Just last Friday, I got the news that the member who is supporting a few customers has told my project manager that with all the workloads we have, we definitely cannot finish it by the end of this month. So, it has been extended to the mid of November. I have been making progress and I hope that by mid November, I can finish it on time. Right now, I can breath easy a little bit. There you have it.
